Straight shaft weed eater
This type of weed eater is most suitable for people who are tall. With this type of weed eater, you will be able to get to various corners of your lawn including areas that are difficult to get to.
This type of string trimmer may not be able to get to every corners of the lawn especially corners that are difficult to get at but its advantage is that it offers users with good balance they required to do a nice cutting. They provide great ease of use and convenience to the user.

Classification based on the source of power
Weed eaters can be classified based on the source of their powers. Based on this classification, there are also three types of weed eaters which include electric weed eater, battery powered weed eater and gasoline powered weed eater.
Electric powered weed eater is a type of weed eater that derives the power that rotates the motor from an electric source. Because this type of weed eater has a cord for socketing to electric source and to differentiate it from battery powered weed eaters, it is also called corded weed eater. It makes little or well minimized noise as it trims grass. The major disadvantage of this type of weed eater is that the user is limited in terms of the distance it can covered which depends on the length of the cord. Besides, it does not produce high torque in comparison to gas weed trimmer. Besides, it can only be used where there is electricity.
Battery powered weed eater which is also known as cordless weed eater is powered by lithium battery which can be recharged when it runs out. Just like electric weed eater, it does not make noise as it works. There is no movement limitation as it is the case with electric weed eater. On the negative side, the battery may not last more than an hour depending on the brand.
Gas powered weed eater is powered by gasoline. It produces higher power and thus is capable of tearing tougher grasses than the other types of weed eaters. The major disadvantage is that it makes noise a lot and it is heavier than others. Besides, it releases fumes to the atmosphere and thus not a good option for eco-friendly campaigners.
