Burns can be very serious and become infectious if it is not properly treated. If you are burned, it is important that you treat it very well and take good care of yourself so that the burn will heal faster and will not result to infection. There are a number of things that you should do in order to improve the condition of your health and enhance the quality of your health. Here are some tips to help you enhance the healing of your burn.

Eat very well

Eat enough vegetables like bell peppers and squash, fruits such as cherries, blueberries and tomatoes and antioxidant foods. It has been discovered through a study that the fluid requirements of burn and burn tissue water content are reduced to 40% and 50% respectively by high doses of vitamin C.  There are some foods that you should avoid or limit the way you consume them. Refined foods such as pastas, breads and sugar are not good to your health and do not facilitate the healing of your burn and so you should avoid them. You should also reduce their consumption. You should be careful of the type of cooking oil you use because some of them are not good to your health. Vegetable oil or olive oil is a good option for you.

Commercially baked goods are prepared with refined sugar and other processed ingredients or trans-fatty acids and thus they are not good for you. Baked goods such as crackers, cakes, cookies, onion rings, French fries, margarine or processed foods should be avoided completely. But if you are not able to avoid them completely, you can reduce its consumption. Caffeine, alcohol, tobacco and other stimulants do not enhance the healing of burn and should be avoided.

Take plenty of water

Burns can cause dehydration or loss of body fluid. So, you have to keep yourself hydrated by taking plenty of water. Besides, water helps to detoxify the body or improve the circulation of nutrients and oxygen to the cells of the body. So, if you take enough water on daily basis, your body cells and tissues will obtain enough nutrients and oxygen and this will help to facilitate their healing. You should take about 6-8 glasses of water on daily basis. You should not substitute natural water for other liquids such as alcoholic beverages.

Take vitamin supplements

You have to take vitamin supplements in order to imp up your vitamin in take in case you don’t get enough vitamins from your food. Some of the multivitamin supplements you should take are vitamin A, C, E, B complex as well as minerals such as calcium, magnesium, selenium and zinc. These vitamins and minerals enhance the healing of burn and improve your general health condition. For example, vitamin C enhances the growth and strength of new tissue while Vitamin E improves healing.
