Do not be autocratic

Everything should not end as you want it. You should give your subjects some room to air their views and some freedom. But this does not mean that you should tolerate anything. It simply means that you should not disregard the ego and intelligence of your subjects. They can bring out good ideas that will help your business to progress to an enviable height. If you give them freedom to express their ego, they will be more productive. However, this freedom to express themselves should not interfere with the work of quality to deliver.

Be responsible for what happens

As a manager of a business, you are responsible for anything that happens in the business. So, you should learn to assume responsibility of the achievement of your business. This responsibility is not only limited to the good aspect of your business but also to the negative aspect of it. If you take the honor and glory of success story, you should also take the blame for the failures of your employees. If you are not happy with what is happening or the performance of your business, then you have to do something about it rather than blaming any person.

Be a role model

There is no doubt that you will want your employees to behave in a certain manner or put up certain behaviors. You should also try to lead them by example. What you will want to do, you should also do that so that they will take you seriously and follow your steps. If you don't do what you want them to do, they will not take you seriously. They will only be doing things out of pretext and not out of conviction. But if you lead by example, they will eventually understand the reasons why you want them to do the things you want.

Establish your credibility

Good managers are credible and reliable individuals. Being credible means they are true to their words. It means following up with things and having a record of getting things done. What matters to your employees is your ability to proffer solutions to their challenges or challenges facing the business and not just your the certificate you accumulated. If you are able to provide solution to their problem and handle organizational issues credibly well, they will believe in you because you have prove yourself worthy for the position. But if you rely on them for solution to their problem, they will not believe in you.
